The Bonington Way Dementia Wing is a dedicated new facility at Nether Place Care Centre. It is the first service within 15 miles of Keswick to offer residential care specially for elderly dementia sufferers that was recently reported on by Caring UK magazine www.caring-uk.co.uk.
It has been set up in response to demand from GP s and those caring for loved ones with dementia. They wanted people needing professional residential care to be able to stay within easy reach of the community in which they have lived.
We believe people suffering from dementia deserve the best possible quality of life. This means more than just excellent medical care and a safe environment. We want their experience to be more like living in a family home than an institution.
Places are limited to six residents which helps our dedicated carers concentrate on building personal relationships with each resident. We have the skills and time to work closely with families in planning the best individual care for their loved ones.
The Bonington Way has been expertly designed to maximise resident’s independence and freedom of choice while minimising disorientation and the risk of accidents. Residents can move as they please between the privacy of their en-suite bed-sitting rooms, and the communal lounge and garden.
Getting outdoors into the fresh air does you good whatever your age. At the Bonington Way Dementia Wing every resident can use the specially-designed sensory garden whenever they wish. They can wander round, guided by the same dementia-friendly paintwork as inside, savour the fragrant plants and herbs, listen to the wind-chimes, watch the windmills and bird feeders and even lend a hand tending our raised vegetable beds.
