Silver Howe Residential Care is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week - with Qualified Senior Care Assistants. Our staff undergo a screening process to ensure they possess the skills, qualities and characteristics we feel are essential in a caregiver, along with expertise in areas such as dementia and palliative care.

Dementia Friendly Wing

In Autumn 2007 Silver Howe introduced the new / upgraded ‘dementia friendly’ wing. It has been developed in response to the increasing needs of our Residents and provides safe and positive environment within the home. A few of the key features include:

  A layout that enables Residents to find their way around easily and to familiarise themselves.

  A kitchenette / activities area that has been built in to the design of the living space to encourage Residents to take an active role in activities of normal living.

  All rooms are single, newly furbished and additional en suite facilities added where possible.

  Open access to a secure garden area during the day.

There are many other features that are included in the Unit which specifically meets the needs of people suffering from dementia so that they are able to utilise their retained abilities with minimal frustration, and experience the highest possible quality of life.
